Dear Brothers and Sisters,

If any one of us can feel a broken heart, what must be the experience of the most perfect of human mothers? Yesterday, our Deacon gave an unforgettable homily. The statistics included and the relationship of those statistics to the Gospel of the Wedding Feast of Cana were stunning.

My husband asked the deacon if he would allow his homily to be printed on my husband's blog. He consented. I urge you to read it at:

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Maria,

Millions of us are already following Mary, Star of the New Evangelization.

Quote:
"It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade." Mk 4: 31-32

Dear Mary,

Thanks for your reply. While I agree that there are those who are following Mary, Star of the New Evangelization, there certainly are not enough, when we read statistics like: 55 million babies have been aborted in the last 40 years. The media in the USA was outraged at the murder of 19 children in Newtown, CT, and rightly so, but let me quote from the homily I linked to this thread:
Quote:
...Every day, the Newtown experience happens 3300 times in this great land of ours. Not caused by madmen wielding a gun but lives ended by doctors wielding equally as lethal weapons. And it happens so often now, that we barely blink an eye. How frightening to think that we can get used to a Newtown experience happening every single day. In fact, there are even some Catholics who believe that there is nothing morally objectionable about abortion...

The Church in America needs to do more to let Christ's Truth shine in this dark culture of death. May the New Evangelization open the eyes and hearts of Catholics especially to the horrendous, intrinsic evil of abortion. How sad to realize that so many who call themselves Catholic voted for the most pro-abortion President in US History!

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Maria, that will come about as living the New Evangelization helps us get stronger and stronger to the point that priests and laity understand and love living their own vocations.

Yes, Mary!

I agree: New Evangelization called for by our Popes, if truly lived, could bring about great good, including the end to abortion, ending the terrible statistics which break any mother's heart, especially Our Mother Mary's Immaculate Heart.

Maria, indeed, and we all need to pray for the Holy Spirit of the new Evangelization...for ourselves and for one another.
