What is the name of the demon who specifically targets priests ? Is it Leviathan ?

Is there a name for a demon who specifically attacks the faith/faithful ?

The reason I ask is due to the fact that both myself and my priest are experiencing specific personal/spiritual pressure...

I would NEVER attempt any excorsism myself but if it is a spiritual menace behind these "attacks" on us due to our faith I just want to know what demon it is to pray against. What is the best course of spiritual warfare that a layman can employ against such things. I have promised my priest I will pray for him during this....please pray for the priest known only to God.

Thank you.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Holy Eucharist are the great spiritual weapons against sin and evil.

A priest once told us that the best prayers for a layman are the one to Saint Michael and the Our Father [Deliver us from evil].

Michael,

Quote:
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle;
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Do not ask the names of demons. Do not speculate about the names of demons. You don't want to know.

I think it was in Father Amorth's book about exorcism that he said the Rosary is very powerful.

I tend to agree. I'm not sure it benefits much to know the name. Our attention should be on Our Lord, our strength and our refuge.

I agree with the others; though it may seem like you're being "more thorough" if you know the name of a certain demon to pray against, you should be praying against all of them, because there could be more than you think there attacking you. If you want a sacramental (these aren't Sacraments) to help you with demons attacking you, here are a few:
Brown Scapular of Our Lady
Praying your Rosary and having it with you at all times, or whenever possible
St. Benedict Medal (it has a Latin prayer against the devil on it)
Miraculous Medal (because Mary crushes the head of the serpent)
Say the prayer, "Precious Blood wash over me," whenever you are faced with temptation or attack.
Blessing yourself with holy water
Wearing a crucifix

If you don't want to go around with a "loud" chainful of medals, you can attach the St. Benedict medal and/or Miraculous Medal to your scapular or rosary, or some variation like that, and still be able to wear a crucifix. I have a St. Benedict medal on my scapular and my Miraculous Medal and crucifix on a chain together. Also, try to make sure these items get blessed, that's what makes them differ from other "jewelry," it's because sacramentals are blessed.

1) Rosary
2) St Benedict Medal and the prayer written on it
3) Prayer to St. Michael
4) Holy water and blessed salt, a crucifix in every room etc.
5) Compline/Night prayer. The reading "Brethren, be sober and vigilant..." the hymn "Te lucis" (before the ending of the day) and the collect "Visit this house" are all powerful in spiritual warfare, and the final "Hail,Holy Queen"
6) Regular confession
7) Prayer to one's guardian angel

That's in no particular order.

What Julie said. Do NOT be intimidated when you are tempted and basically the name doesn't matter unless you are a priest delivering the spirit out. Jesus has already won the battle. Do not give the demons any more attention than you already have. This shall pass. Frequent confession and holy communion along with the sacramentals, and the will to do the right thing will get you through this and the priest too.

I think the important thing is to remember that they have no power over us. The mistake I made, for a while, was allowing myself to be intimidated, or convinced of whatever. For temptation... pray immediately and remember you can always confess - that's not permission to sin, but prevents us despairing and strengthens us the next time around. Anything more... just take a cue from the Cure d'Ars and try to ignore it. That is what annoys the enemy most, I suspect. BTW this advice is second-hand.

Letter of St. Jude 1:9

Yet the archangel Michael, when he argued with the devil
in a dispute over the body of Moses, did not venture
to pronounce a reviling judgment* upon him but
said, “May the Lord rebuke you!”

Not even St. Michael himself disputed with the devil, but left it up to God.
