I seriously doubt it. Syncronicity is one of the more... um... fanciful of the many wacko-freak concepts made up by Jung.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncronicity

Syncronicity has nothing to do with Daylight Savings; synchronisation may have.

James, synchronisation does sound a bit better...thank you!

Val, to bad we live so far apart. Look at all the fun we could have driving
people up the wall with all our brilliance, etc. :o

Mary,

Yes, I'm very brilliant. I fell for a virus link and it got sent out to all my e-mail contacts and some of them knew better than I and deleted the e-mail without opening the link but some didn't. I feel so guilty and I'm so careful about those things but it came from a friend and was worded just like that friend would have greeted me and it was about job opportunities and I'm unemployed and I was rushing so I just opened it. I should have known better..if for no other reason but that this person has sent me about three spams or viruses.

Val, when it comes to outstanding brilliance we are more than outstanding.

I once arrived at my podiatrist's office, took off my coat, and everyone there stared at me...seems like I was still wearing my floor length "granny nightgown". :o

Mary, one of my kids once went to Mass in a night shirt that somehow was overlooked in the preparations for the morning. :tsk: :)

Mary,

Well, since you mentioned me by name I will admit that since I live alone, walking into the living room without a top on is not unheard of and I once walked onto my porch in that condition and I live on a very busy street. Fortunately, getting the mail is a quick procedure but I didn't even realize it until I was half way into the house. How's that for brilliance?

Andrew,

I was lone this Thanksgiving. I was hoping for an invitation from my brother but he went to Arizona to be with his wife's family. I had another invitation but it was at friends house and she was having about thirty people and I didn't care for a number of them and I don't care for parties. It used to be just family there and a few close friends like myself but since her mother died four years ago, Thanksgiving and Christmas day have turned to these immense undertakings. No more for me, my younger brother and I went last year and because we had a ball with her sister in law whom we dearly love, it worked out but we decided we're never going to her house for Christmas anymore either. So, no idea what I'm doing Christmas day. Probably go back to our old tradition of going to the beach if it's sunny. I also had an invitation to drive to San Diego to go to the house of a friends sister. The friends husband has post polio syndrome and since the handicapped van as designed for him to drive and since he's severely disabled and can no longer drive, he ends up way in the back of the van and she wanted the company driving down there. I was tempted but glad I didn't go when it turned out she drove three hours both ways.

I was sad in some ways. Mostly missed my friends mother and her father in law who died in June. I missed being with family...either my friends because they are my second family or my own. I don't know how I'm going to tell my friend that I'm not coming to anymore holidays.

I bet that's a longer answer than you really wanted. You probably wanted, "great, how was yours"?

Oh, I'm sorry Val. If you lived near me I would have loved to have you over!

No one felt like cooking so we went to a nearby hotel hosting a Thanksgiving buffet. It was very crowded and the food was not as good as home cooked, IMO. At least I got to see my mother, who came up with her friend Tom. My sister decided to stay home and I always miss my deceased sister and father on holidays. Also Tom talks way too much and tends to repeat himself.

Oh well; I'm thankful and at least I got to see Mom.

I've never wanted to go to restaurants on Thanksgiving because leftovers are the best part.

I got the best of both. One of my sisters came out from the East and we went to a restaurant with my daughters. Then a neighbor gave us a couple of large helpings of leftovers from her family's dinner.

Our favorite leftover has always been the stuffing. One year there was a large amount left over because two of our guests had to cancel.

That large amount of stuffing looked like a treat of all treats.

When we got up in the morning one of our daughters rushed to the refridgerator to warm that treat of all treats for breakfast.

There wasn't any...

....and my Fred said rather sheepishly..."it's not my fault; you left it where I could find it."

How could you do that to Fred?

In 45 years of Thanksgiving with my immediate family, we never once had left over stuffing. Our turkeys were usually 20-25 pounds so we had leftovers of turkey (even with seven savage boys eating). My dad would make a dish based upon the Louisiana dish "dirty rice". We always called it dirty rice no matter what kind of meat was in it but in Louisiana it's a dish with chicken gizzards. Daddy made it with chicken breast and Portuguese sausage instead of basic, regular American sausage, brown rice instead of white and the rest was the authentic recipe more or less. But, he also used different left overs or cheap meats...sometimes hamburger and the day after Thanksgiving....turkey in the dirty rice. The day after Easter, chunks of ham instead of sausage. It was so good. I still make the dish but only with chicken breast and I'm making it for a Christmas potluck but one of the attendees family comes from Louisiana so I'm not allowed to call it dirty rice around her because it's not authentic so it becomes, "Daddy's almost like dirty rice".

Once again I've created the longest reply on this thread. You can tell me if I talk to much....people do it all the time.

I like it when you "talk too much". It is usually heartwarming, informative, and revealing of a genuinely good person.

We were at a friends' home for dinner.

Le'ssee...

Game 1 - beer with a little cheese & crackers.

Dinner - Turkey, gravy, ham, stuffing with sausage, stuffing without sausage, mashed potato, sweet potato with pecan, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, cranberry relish, green beans, dinner rolls, meliton (Louisiana specialty - stuffed with shrimp, sausage, stuffing). Mustn't forget the wine.

Pause for the start of game 2. Also take time to walk the dog (key strategy - I burned off a tablespoon's worth of gravy that way and was reinvigorated for dessert  )

Pumpkin tarts, sweet potato pie, chocolate peanut butter pie, berry pie, candied apple. Coffee and tea.

Whiskey nightcap at the start of game 3.

I agree...I'm a listener at heart; I rarely have anything to say. When Fred was in the nursing home because there was no way left to care for him at home, my daughters, their husbands, and sometimes their children, came with me to visit him.

Most people had no visitors. We got to know quite a few people by name, and most of them knew us by name.

Happy Monday in return! I'm actually not that happy though so your greeting was wasted on me. I'm ok though, grateful for a gorgeous day...high of 73 expected but lows in the 40's last night. I actually had to turn my heater on...usually my medication keeps me warm and I'm blessed to live in an old fashioned triplex built in the 50's that used actual insulation and plaster.

High here is forecast to be 30ºƒ after an overnight low in the mid teens!

We won't see many days over the next four months here in the hinterland with a high of 73º. :(

James,

What a gorgeous picture. I didn't realize Sydney got that cold. We're expecting rain tomorrow and snow at 3500', the mountains surrounding my valley will be so beautiful. The low here is expected to be 36 farenheit. It snowed at my brother's house twice last year...north of me but not high in elevation. The monastery got several inches of snow during those storms but it is not unusual for the high desert to get snow.

It's gonna be around 33 degrees in the panhandle tonight. Thank goodness for flannel sheets.

James,

Sorry, I'm American, We're trained to think everyone thinks like us. I know we should convert to metric but it would mean I'd never be able to again measure things in life.

I'm so excited we're having winter weather for the next through says. The only problem is that I can only wear bedroom slippers as I slammed my toe Saturday, but for some reason only the top of my foot is swollen..can't get shoes on. Fortunately, my slippers are lined and have heavy rubber soles which, now that I think about it, is sort of odd. I wore them while shopping yesterday.

Any chance the winter weather will bring down the swelling?
