Does The Church officially teach that Jesus was born without the stain of original sin? If so, can you point me to where I can find it. I've been searching the Catechism but can't find a definite statement.
Thanks all!
Erin

I'm not sure it's there explicitly, but it's certainly there if you follow the logical chain.

In #491, we see that Mary is free from the stain of original sin.

In #405ff, we see that original sin is passed down from Adam & Eve.

So, if original sin something thats passed on, and only exists by virtue of transmission from parent to child, then the "break" in this chain at Mary, means that there is no way by which original sin might have been passed along to Jesus.

Hope that helps!
