Please pray for my dad. He has been passing out blood and am taking him to the hospital for examination and likely blood transfusion.

Just back from the hospital. Dad has been warded for further investigations, possibly a scope and biopsy.

He was warded for three days last week and doctors discovered he has colon cancer. The good news we could take out of this is that the cancer has not spread and surgery has a good chance of success. We took him back for the Chinese New Year holidays, but had to get him warded again yesterday because he has digestive problems and because of his low blood count, they are strengthening him up before operating to get the tumour out, hopefully end of this week or early next week.

Please pray for him and my mum, who is not handling the situation very well. God bless and thank you everyone for your prayers.

Had a meeting with Dad's surgeon and his medical team. He has given us plenty of reasons to be hopeful and Dad and our family's spirits have been lifted.

Thank you once again, everyone, for your kind prayers. Dad's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. He's at home now and we are taking care of him until he returns to the hospital on Monday.

Marie,

I can't begin to tell you how overwhelmed I was to witness such love between two people treasuring every moment they have had together in the past 10 days or so, whether in the hospital or at home, as if it is their last. It is like their love is still so young and fresh at their age and It has touched me beyond words and I was reduced to tears so many times. This is a picture of them on Chinese New Year eve, when Dad was allowed home from the hospital for a couple of days for the holidays.

It's very good to hear witness of Christ's love for his Church expressed in this marriage, given the contrary news received from much of the world. Thank you, Ian.

Hi All,

Thank you for all your prayers. My dad had quite a significant part of his colon removed, but the surgery was a success. He will be in the high dependency ward for couple of days, but the cancer is gone and the healing process will take two to three months before he can get back to living as normally as before.

It is a big relief for my family, especially my mum who has been crying almost daily.

Thank you for storming heaven with all your prayers!

Saying another prayer, in thanksgiving and for recovery!

My great-aunt had similar surgery more than ten years ago and is still quite active in her retirement community, at the age of 90-something. It did affect some of her activities and definitely her diet, but it was very successful for her.

Rose, Bob and Dean, and all

Thank you.

Through Gods grace, my family not only grew closer together, but paternal family members once estranged and whom Dad and us have not seen in decades contacted us and they are coming to see him once he is able to receive visitors. My belief in the Lord always creating good from bad situations has multiplied manifold.

Amen, Ian.

My father's passing from cancer 18 years ago gave impetus to my returning to practicing the faith more fully. God's ways are good, if we only trust in Him.

And Rose and Bob, thank you for sharing. It is just the encouragement we need right now that there are lots more years for my dad.

Dean,

My dad's condition has also allowed me to witness the Catholic faith in my own way on FB, and I found that spiritually uplifting as well!

Ian,

Another result is that I saw my dad in a new light. Hundreds of people came to visit at the funeral home and attended the funeral Mass, and the stories they told of how my dad had quietly touched their lives completely changed my narrow view of him. He and I did not get along at all for about 17 years (barely speaking to each other), but hearing stories about him enlarged and filled out and repaired our relationship after his death.

Dean,

In the midst of running in and out of hospital to get the medical things done for my dad, I felt the same thing.

It was a feeling that God was nudging us to rebuild the relationship with my long-lost cousins and their families. The tension between us have long disappeared but none of us has made any effort to reconnect and God was using my dad's cancer to draw us together. One of them, with whom I have not seen in almost 20 years, called me very late on Sunday night and said: "Never again must we lose touch, we are family and all of us must never forget that".

For those of you who have been unable to view the photo I posted on FB of my Dad, who asked to be taken to Church after he discovered he had colon cancer and was discharged from hospital 10 days ago, this is the shot I took of him. In case you are wondering why he is holding on to his shorts, in the hurry my mum got him freshly ironed clothes to wear, we forgot to pack his trouser belt.

The second photo is of my mum today, who with tears flowing incessantly also asked to be taken to Church to pray to Our Lady after Dad was wheeled into the operating theatre. Both photos were not planned and I happened to noticed the emotion of both moments and quickly captured them to remind ourselves of the unrivalled intercessory power of Our Lady with Her Son.
