Benaras is a centre of Hindu learning and famous for its bathing ghats. My friend is very proud of his rich Hindu tradition and the fact that Benaras is one of the oldest cities in the world
The problem is that he does not understand Christianity-he sees it as a "foreign" or western religion. He feels that coverts to Christianity in India were forced or bribed into becoming Christians. He also feels hurt when Christians in his office do not eat the food he offers to idols
He is not exposed to Christianity and I do feel very sorry for his state. At the same time he appears hard line and mocks Christianity.
Please pray that he be enlightened about the Faith

Thanks for your prayers-Nationalism together with an ignorance of Christianity -its role in modern India-is something that can cause a lot of trouble.Saying that people convert because of free education and not admitting that Christ is the Light of the World.
Beneras may be more than 2500 years old but that time is very insufficient to grasp the Truths of Christianity.
This man at 26 is a junior manager at a small bank.He is hard working and fairly intelligent but does not understand Christianity. Moreover he is hurt that Christianity is slowly making inroads to traditional Hindu domain

Simon,

I shall pray for your Hindu friend. May he become enlightened about Christianity and the love of the Lord Jesus Christ!

God bless you

Graham

Praying.

Perhaps a Christmas gift of a good biography of St Francis Xavier?

He may still find the story interesting, about a man who championed the locals in the face of vast corruption amongst the Europeans, and won them over to sharing his faith - really sharing it - because of his acts of charity... not to mention all the miracles... while other 'Christians' were, well, not exactly acting in a Christian manner. After all, we all enjoy a good story even when we don't believe it. I read the whole Bible at least 12 times while still an atheist ;-)

This is Hindu pride which believes that it has everything in itself -it has no humility to learn Christianity.

It is possible, you know, to treat it merely as a story.

This idiot has strong prejudices against both Europeans and Christianity-Father forgive him him for he knows not what he is doing
