The God of Love Speaks to Man…

I gave you hands to grasp and work
With finesse, deftly, and eat food;
I thought you’ll fold your hands and pray,
And thank me for the gifts I gave!
But you use hands to hurt and kill,
And do all sinful things your way!

I gave you legs that carry you,
And stand upright and walk my ways;
I thought you’ll genuflect and pray,
And thank me for all that I do;
But you tread upon evil paths
And leave my tenets, go astray!

I gave you eyes upon your face
To see the good world I had made;
I thought you’ll read the word of mine,
And live your life in accordance.
But you use eyes to see the muck
That spoils your heart and mind and soul!

I gave you ears to hear sweet sounds
Of birds and animals I found;
I thought you’ll hear my divine voice
And thank me for the gift of life;
But you hear noise that’s deafening,
And songs that satisfy your lust.

I gave you tongue and mouth to speak
Kind words to all and love brethren;
I thought you’ll eat the foods you should,
And thank me for the taste of things;
But you speak lies and blaspheme God
And eat substances of abuse!

I gave you mind to think aright,
And wonder how awesome is God!
I thought you’ll keep your brain flawless,
And thank me for your reasoning power;
But you take drugs that give you highs
And waste your precious time I gave!

I gave you heart to empathize,
And feel the anguish of others;
I thought you’ll have remorse for sins
And ask forgiveness from the Lord;
But your heart harbours evil thoughts
Those wreck your mind, body and soul!

Remember man, I made you out
Of clay but breathed life into it;
And gave a soul and my semblance
To know my love that’s infinite;
Love made me make you with great care,
And yearns to have you back wholesome!

"The God of love made man with perfection and
expects him to return this love in some way reasonably!"

A Song of Introspection

I fall in sin again, again!
It is my weakness, Lord;
I fully know, I cannot gain
Heav’n, unless I live by Your Word!

The tempter tells the same old lies,
And offers joyous moments fast;
I fall in raptures in his highs,
And add on to my sinful past!

How many times, I fall in sin!
I feel the shame at times so much;
Christ’s Holy Ghost, nudges me, ‘Win!’
By prayer and the Cross’ touch!

’Tis Jesus who raises me up,
Each time I fall in path of truth;
Unquenched, athirst by bitter cup,
His drink of love helps me to soothe!

I long to turn a saint on earth;
My sinfulness will not leave me;
I thank God for my glorious birth,
Do lead to Eternity!

All Soul’s Day

They throng the tombs of near and dear,
To pray for souls in Purgatory;
They offer masses, light candles,
And place flowers on cemetery.

They visit tombs of orphans, friends,
And hear Requiem masses this day;
They give alms, singing hymns for dead,
Pleading for God’s mercy and pray.

No soul is sinless on dying;
The soul must be freed off all sins;
The venial sins forgotten need
To be dumped in Purgatory’s bins!

We ought to pray for all the dead,
Our kith and kin and strangers too;
The dead cannot do more penance,
And earn the grace of God on own!

November is the month to pray
To God to grant eternal rest,
For all awaiting Judgment’s Day,
And help them pass the final Test!

Let light perpetual shine on souls
In Purgatory, where they are cleansed;
Pardon them Lord and release them;
Permit them to enter Heaven!

A Democratic Leader’s Second Term in Office…

When people give some leaders, second term,
It shows that they repose a lot of faith,
And strongly hope their dreams in life come true,
And basic amenities are given.

The country must be back in progress’ path!
The leader carries heavy yoke on him;
The people’s expectations are quite high;
Things must be done with speed to people’s taste!

The massive mandate’s sign of urgency!
There is no time to waste or to delay;
The people’s sufferings must cease too soon;
Relief must be the need of hour and day!

The leader realizes his new job,
And greater responsibility;
Election promises must be sure kept;
The voter’s aches of heart and home must heal!

Being a leader great is not a joke;
Remaining in authority is tough;
You got to satisfy the common man,
And richer class must grow richer with time!

The act of balancing is rather tough;
The road to regain progress is quite rough;
The past mistakes and blunders are enough;
Democracy must make all voters laugh!

A second time is tougher than the first;
The people’s patience stands on brink of hope;
The nation’s heart must beat in rhythm soon;
Economy must be fast vitalized!

Congrats to leaders who get second terms;
It is a test of their prowess and skills;
The power of the gab will not help now;
All want good things to happen very fast!

Children’s Day in India, 2012

Being a child is what all love to be;
And when adult, we know we can never;
Childhood was best and everyone agrees;
But do children have freedom they deserve?

The smaller family norm has done great harm;
The child is neglected right from its birth;
It wallops in its faeces and urine!
It has to study when ’tis age to play!

What selfishness fills hearts of most adults!
They spare no time to watch the bud blossom;
World’s children pine for love and yearn for care;
They are denied their rights when still in womb!

The crimes against children are on the rise;
Children are used, abused and not amused;
No nation thrives if children stay enslaved;
Let parents love their children sincerely!

Children are living wealth of nations prime;
Children are priceless gifts from God above;
Children are future parents and leaders;
Children need to be kept healthy, unharmed!

With All My Heart, God, Let Me… (A Song)

With all my heart, God, let me praise you;
With all my heart, God, let me thank you;
With all my heart, God, let me serve you;
With all my heart, God, let me love you.

With all my heart, God, let me seek you;
With all my heart, God, let me trust you;
With all my heart, God, let me call you;
With all my heart, God, let me reach you.

With all my heart, God, let me rejoice;
With all my heart, God, let me obey;
With all my heart, God, let me repent;
With all my heart, God, let me be glad.

With all my heart, God, let me be pure;
With all my heart, God, let me await;
With all my heart, God, let me sing songs;
With all my heart, God, let me not sin.

With all my heart, let me abide in Him;
With all my heart, let me be righteous;
With all my heart, let me not go astray;
With all my heart, let me keep your Words.

God knows all secrets of the human heart;
He forms all hearts and considers all that they do;
The Lord moves hearts of Kings to make decrees;
Only fools say in hearts, ‘There is no God!’

All Things Are Simply Possible, Just By God’s Saving Grace!

I aimed to accomplish one thing,
But turned to be yet another;
I thought I was unfit in life,
But God brought me out of all strife.
All things are simply possible,
Just by God’s saving grace!

I travelled by a road I chose;
It led me to an alien place;
I thought I had a blunder done;
God gave me timely rain and sun!
All things are simply possible,
Just by God’s saving grace!

I felt awful and depressed oft,
And life had turned quite meaningless;
To God, I cried in despair, ‘Lord!’
My strength returned reading His Word!
All things are simply possible,
Just by God’s saving grace!

I saw the modern world of man,
Afilled by sin and wickedness;
I felt like asking God, ‘But why?’
Hope filled my heart anew from sky!
All things are simply possible,
Just by God’s saving grace!

I found all earthly life futile,
And wished from heart to earlier die!
But God renewed my spirits high,
And made my earthly stay worthwhile!
All things are simply possible,
But by God’s saving grace!

Zachaeus on the Sycamore Tree (in verse)

Many of us have heard of Christ;
Some of us know Jesus so well;
Christ is always passing by nigh;
Should we not have a better glimpse?

By heart, we yearn to see Jesus;
We are all sinners in more ways;
Our ears await his loving call;
By spirit, we stay short for Christ!

God sees each human heart in depth;
He knows if it has love or hate;
He gives us chances for more faith;
Sometimes, He comes to us to speak.

A Sycamore helps us see Christ;
There are such trees by every lane;
But we must climb to see Christ well;
The Lord knows secrets of each heart!

Many in sins galore do lie;
Many do have a contrite heart;
For repentance to turn complete,
Penance must be in matching ways!

Why put off seeing Jesus Christ?
The Son of God came for sinners!
Just ask and He will surely come;
Search and you can find Him surely.

Christ longs to dine in each one’s home;
He forgives sins by Cross’ ease;
He changes lives once and for all;
Must not we reconcile with God?

’Tis easy climbing sycamores!
’Tis easy finding one such tree;
It helps to see Jesus clearly!
Why should we hesitate to climb?

Ignore the world that talks like fools!
Each soul must gain God’s redemption;
Let’s plead to God for forgiveness;
Let’s fill heart with God’s saving grace!

There is a price for redemption;
Jesus paid our ransom ahead;
We must walk in His righteous path;
We must enter the narrow gate!

We live in different life’s set-ups!
God has a purpose for each one;
We ought to learn the will of God;
True faith alone can lead to Christ!

Christ lives in every one of us;
But we must live in Christ all life;
He sees us well and all the time;
The veil of sin hinders our sight!

There is no time to waste on earth;
We must be all reborn in Christ;
Our faith in God must not waver;
We must be steadfast in Christ Lord.

Let us keep looking for Christ!
Let us find a sycamore!
Let us climb it to see Christ well;
He will want to dine in our homes!

Commune with God for He made us;
Alone on earth, we cannot live;
Surrender heart to Jesus Christ;
Heaven is earned right here on earth!

Jesus knows each soul’s true state;
Jesus seeks souls with boundless love;
Why live in sins those lead to hell?
Only the fool says, ‘there’s no God!’

We must live life much Christ-centered;
Faith must not swerve or keep changing;
Conversion is by grace of God;
Redemption is by love of God.

Ignore the world of vanity;
Be blind to world of heinous sins;
Be deaf to sinful talk of men;
Save your soul and your kith and kin’s!

Zachaeus climbed a sycamore,
To catch a better glimpse of Christ;
And when he made up for his sins,
Redemption came to his household!

The lure of world need not deter;
There’s lucre in heaven better;
To see God soul must pure remain;
When God calls, we must heed at once!

God speaks to us by Bible’s words;
The verses tell us how to live;
God’s purpose for our lives on earth
Must be realized by strong faith.

We are all children of same God;
We need to preserve our souls pure;
Our earthly stay is not for long;
Eternity with God is prime!

Let Nothing Hold You Back!

In your way of the Cross,
In your walk with Christ,
In your search for Truth,
In your war against satan,
In your seeking the Light…
Let Nothing Hold You Back!

Let nothing stop your move;
Let nothing hinder you;
Let nothing detract you;
Let nothing distract you.

Let nothing delay you;
Let nothing slow your work;
Let nothing withhold you;
Let nothing hold you back.

Let nothing block your ways;
Let nothing veil your eyes;
Let nothing mislead you;
Let nothing dishearten.

Let nothing dampen faith;
Let nothing deter you;
Let nothing harden heart;
Let nothing blind your faith!

Let nothing bother you;
Let nothing scare your mind;
Let nothing freeze your heart;
Let nothing rind your soul!

Just go after Christ Lord!
He is your Maker, God;
Follow His mighty steps;
Hearken to His clear call.
keep the road to heaven!

Celebrating Christmas 2012, like in Former Days!

Can we have a better X’mas this year?
Can we hang a home-made twinkling star?
Can we decorate a Christmas tree?
Can we put festoons, bells, balls on it?

Can we have some gifts for children, dad and mom?
Can we bake a tasty cake with fruits dried?
Can we cook a meal with lamb and rice?
Can we buy new dresses for all at home?

Can we tidy up the house and keep it spick?
Can we distribute sweets to neighbours?
Can we hear the mid-night Mass ’midst cool air?
Can we feel the joy of birth of Christ?

But not without preparing each one’s heart!
And not without sharing our joy with next!
And not without making peace with kith, kin!
And not without a crib to show Christ’s birth!

Christmas those years were far pleasanter still!
Much harmony existed in families!
We used to greet our relatives and friends;
It is a selfish, closed affair, these days!

Bring back alive the true Christmas spirit!
Let peace and joy prevail in every home;
Let world around experience bliss of Christ;
Emmanuel’s born in souls most pure, grace-filled!

“Wish you a Merry Christmas, 2012!”

“Stop Aborting Hereafter; Avoid the Wrath of God!”

How dare you kill a lovely baby hale?
How ruthless can your heart become at times!
How foolish calling babies ‘unwanted’!
How sad you murder cold-blooded your own!

Each child is life uniquely made by God;
Each child is God’s love, mercy in flesh-form;
Each child is precious to the Maker’s eyes;
Each child is gift divine and heaven’s bliss!

Abortion is foul murder every time;
Abortion can’t become health-care at all;
Abortion turns the sacred womb, a tomb!
Abortion leaves an anguished heart and mind!

Avoid the mortal sin of abortion;
The act displeases God – Giver of Life!
The unborn child’s blood pleads God for revenge;
How can a God most fair remain silent?

How can you kill your own offspring in life?
How can you stay happy on earth by crime?
How can you blunt your conscience that’s right?
Must you abort and think it bestows joy?
“Stop Abortions Hereafter; Avoid the Wrath of God”

Sonnet: Thus, the World Goes On!

The town where I was born and bred has changed
A lot, so much so that I find it hard
To recognize, as buildings have vanished,
And mighty trees aren’t found in any ward!

Most mammoth trees I used to see when young
Have all been razed to ground, replaced by trees
Anew, and giant structures built far-flung,
And newer names in graves of cemeteries!

Those happiest years of childhood life are gone!
The new landscape is fine, unnatural;
Old-timers most have left, I feel alone,
Awaiting day of my own funeral!

More news of grief and woes, I hear each day!
Yet, things must happen in God’s destined way!

Sonnet: Through Advent to Christmas

When Advent starts, it means Christmas is near!
In Advent, we prepare our soul for Christ;
It tells us of Christ’s second coming dear;
Let’s reconcile our hearts with Jesus first!

After Advent comes Christmas every year!
Let’s kick-start it by fast and penitence;
The birth of Saviour Lord removes all fear;
Our contrition should not become pretence!

True joy and peace Emmanuel brings for us;
The Messiah will judge humanity;
Into blessing, the Lord has turned all curse;
Each one can enter His eternity!

Remove the stains of sins of soul by grace;
The love of God is Christ for human race!

An Invocation to God

Tilt the balance in my favour, Lord;
Favour me in every circumstance;
Fight my wars with foes, unknown and known;
Strengthen heart to live most righteously!

Cleanse my mind and heart, forgive my sins;
Fill my soul with grace and keep it pure;
Let me thank you, Lord for blessings all;
Let me live your ways with gratitude!

May this vessel fill up to its brim!
Make me, Lord, instrument in your hands!
May I do all things, in ways you want;
Answer my every prayer to thee!

Can I live without trusting my God?
Doesn’t a creature need a Creator?
How can I commit acts against my Lord?
Free me, Lord from satan’s temptations!

Live, I will for sake of Jesus Christ!
Love, I must the God of truth and love;
Die, I shall by walking with my cross!
Bear I will my sorrows for Christ’s sake!

What Shall I Do On Christmas Day?

What shall I do with just pennies ten,
On Christmas Day to celebrate?
Oh, I can't buy a star alit,
That tells the world that special date!

What shall I do with just pennies ten,
It cannot buy a Christmas cake!
Nor can it buy a Christmas card,
But I must spend it for Christ's sake!

What shall I do with just pennies ten,
It cannot buy me a newer dress;
Nor can it fetch a Christmas tree
That's decorated with largesse!

What shall I do with just pennies ten,
The money's too little to spend;
Oh, let me give a beggar alms,
And hear him thank the Lord new born!

Days Just Before Christmas

On donkey's back, with child in womb,
The Virgin Mary came;
They travelled long to Bethlehem
And searched for room in vain!

That winter's days were freezing cold,
And dark were nights untold;
With advanced pregnancy she went
With Joseph to her hold!

The time for baby to be born
Was nearing fast with pain;
The poor Mary suffered the pangs,
As they winded each lane!

All that they got was a stable just,
As inn was occupied;
Nevertheless, they took it up,
As that was Heaven's Will!

And in the wee hours before morn,
Emmanuel was born!
In swaddled clothes, the baby lay
-The new-born King on hay!

And thus the love of God for man
Took man's form upon earth;
He was God's one begotten Son
-Savior of human race!

The boy was born as Scriptures said,
‘A Virgin would bear child! '
‘And crush the serpent's head to death,
Heaven would win o'er hell! '

The babe had brought both joy and peace,
And hope to sinners all;
He would carry a cross to death,
But rise third day, alive!

We thank you Christ for being born
In abject poverty;
We thank you for obeying God
For our Eternity!

‘Happy Birthday, Lord Jesus dear! '

Sonnet: On the Birth of Jesus Christ

The sweetest baby boy ev’r born on earth
Happens to be the greatest miracle;
The most divine child brought peace and much mirth;
-The world’s most humble heavenly spectacle!

The Word took flesh in Virgin Mary’s womb!
The Holy Spirit’s power made this take place,
And sinful mankind was saved from all doom;
-A boon bestowed by God to human race!

Two thousand years ago on manger’s hay,
Swaddled in clothes, one winter’s night, He lay;
Shepherds were first to come and see the Child;
The Lamb of God was king but seemed so mild!

The Star of Bethlehem lit up the scene;
And every year, that’s how Christmas has been!
‘O come, let us adore the new-born King, Emmanuel!’

Renew your hope in Jesus Christ,
The only Son of God;
Renew your faith in Christ new-born,
He is true man and Lord.

Renew your love for Savior babe,
The Father sent to earth;
Renew your trust in His great works,
Joy, peace come from His birth.

Renew your ties with Almighty,
His love is Lamb of God;
Renew your grace of heart and soul,
Heaven is our reward.

Renew your strength of mind and will,
Redeemer can save all;
Renew your walk in Christ's footsteps,
Do heed His divine call.

Renew your labour for God's sake,
Heaven is our one mirth;
Renew your fellowship with Christ,
He saved us through His death.

Renew your aim and ambition,
Heaven is our one goal;
Renew your prayers, charity,
Assume divine a role!

Renew your life in Jesus Christ,
He died on cross and rose;
Renew your oath to serve the Lord,
Through love, each one, He chose!

The Word Took Flesh and Dwelt Amongst Us!

The Word took flesh, dwelt amongst us,
One early morning called Christmas!
He chose just one virginal womb
To be His earthly, divine home;

The Word put on His fleshy dress,
And became God, the incarnate!
The Word that was heaven’s Light then,
Became light in darkness for men;

The virgin’s womb became alit;
The Word was true God and true man;
This man was sent by Father God
To light the way for truth-seekers;

Love that was God felt human love
In Blessed Virgin Mary’s womb;
He was a baby Savior King,
Redeemer of the human race;

He was life and light for all things;
To earth, both joy and peace, He brings!
In humble way, He became born,
In an inn’s manger, so forlorn!

He came to see the world He made;
For mankind’s sins, by blood, He paid;
Oh, what a heart of divine love
Was sent to earth from home, above!

Through Him only all things were made;
To live in righteousness, He bade;
Emmanuel was His mighty name;
He grew up in wisdom and fame!

The New Year Eve, 2013

The Old Year cruises to a grinding halt!
The New Year dawns midnight despite darkness!
What amazing light and sound marks the start!
Fun and gaiety change the atmosphere!

To some, it was a cruel Old Year ’12!
The New Year heralds hopes, expectations;
What people want is more freedom, less tax;
But corruption’s the same as ever still!

More food got wasted despite hungry mouths;
Some crimes are turning more heinous and rife;
The common man reels under immense strife;
Money has lost its value over years!

Lives are priceless, thanks to small families;
The risk of accidents is on the rise;
Moral values are taking a back seat;
The modern age is good but dangerous!

Men scramble for better paid jobs often;
Money has become master upon earth;
God has been forgotten by most people;
Life has turned ‘high-tech’ in many a sphere!

The family values are losing import;
The generation gap is widening;
The bond of love within the home’s weaker;
More selfishness and vanity prevail.

Science has given a sense of false hopes;
Man relies on his own strength and not God’s;
The world will be in faster mood and mode;
Yet Nature will conduct the show on earth.

Nevertheless, man must be quite alert;
Aligning with Nature’s always safer;
All modernities aren’t always better;
Old is gold, though diamonds flood the marts!

Society mustn’t forget sense of values;
Man must not forget his spiritual needs;
The sinful soul can’t remain thus for long;
Repentant hearts must seek the way to Truth!

Let’s not forget the Omnipotent God;
The Maker of the Universe is prime;
He sees the hearts and minds of everyone;
He cares for all and judges fairly, souls!

Sonnet: Happy New Year 2013

The year that was, was not up to the mark!
It saw a few things happen well, some bad;
Let’s hope the New Year ’13 gains the spark,
That spreads the peace and cheer, and makes hearts glad!

Let man revere the awesome Creator!
Let love of neighbor be our guiding force!
Let earth become a peaceful place, better!
Let betterment stem from human resource!

Let everyone feel safer, more secure!
Let unborn babies see the light of day!
Let more diseases find a lasting cure!
Let man align with Nature in God’s way!

Let labor, time, wealth be our enterprise!
Cannot our lovely earth turn Paradise?

What’s a New Year All About?

Each year, we find, it somehow ends;
Sometimes, we make more foes than friends!
The old year vanishes off then,
Heralding New Year quickly, when.

We wish neighbours, ‘Happy New Year!’
The truth is different, we all fear;
It is not what the New Year brings,
But how you play its less taut strings!

The old year had so many dreams;
We start each year with new resolve;
But life isn’t as good as it seems;
There are problems we cannot solve!

Some failures stem from own faults;
Some things go wrong despite all care;
Money afills the neighbor’s vaults;
Some luck did turn up although rare!

We wish to live more selflessly;
We want to spread love, cheer and peace;
We do some things quite aimlessly;
Fierce winds blow when we need a breeze!

So, every year, afresh we start,
Avoiding mistakes of the past;
We hope more joy afills our heart,
Without much labour and quite fast!

But do we trust and pray to God?
We think we ourselves can do things;
Can we achieve without the Lord?
The grace of God all things just brings!

God Does All Things Perfectly For All

When something comes from God to you,
You better take it willingly,
For He knows what is best to do,
For future in eternity!

When something you want never comes,
For your good, God has then denied;
The voice of God in your ears hums,
For you could have had almost died!

The ways of God are so wonderful;
He has great plans for everyone;
He made the earth so beautiful
With flora, fauna, rain and sun!

Should we not thank our loving God?
He made us to attain glory;
But we think God is cruel, odd;
And we do things sinful, gory!

Sonnet: Two Contrasting Eras

Our parents brought forth children ten with bliss,
And reared them all with love and care and toil,
Ensuring that nothing ev’r went amiss,
And never spared the rod, the child to spoil!

Alas! We find it hard for one or two
Children, who pampered spend their lives with ease;
Care of the elderly, they never do,
Remaining discontent and without peace!

What sharp contrasts between two eras stay,
As God is forgotten in modern age!
We slog for wealth undue for future day,
And put our love and duties in a cage.

Our parents left us wealth invisible;
We leave ill-health, Godlessness visible!

The Fire within the Heart of Man

An unknown fire rages in
The hearts of human beings born,
When they start knowing world at large,
Smoldering, lingering, bursting aflame –
The search for truth and Maker, God!

The fire seethes and blazes tall;
Sometimes, it keeps a low profile;
Nevertheless, it stays untamed,
Undoused and ne’er can be put out!

The fire grows, glows scorching things,
Refining golden truth again,
Until the heart of man tranquil
Becomes with wisdom / truth distilled!

The fire lasts one’s life-time oft,
And draws the fuel from the Lord,
Who loves all souls He made with love –
Infinite, unfathomed, boundless!

Lovingly dedicated to my dear father,
(Late) Shri.A.T.Antoniswami M.A.L.T., CBE
On his birth anniversary today
On behalf of his beloved wife, children and their families

It Does Not Matter…

It does not matter what kind of work you do,
But put your mind and heart and soul into it;
It does not matter which road you take in life,
But walk or run with steadfastness, warily.

It does not matter how well you eat and drink,
But let it be healthy, affordable and be content;
It does not matter how much you get paid,
But be happy you have the health to enjoy it.

It does not matter how much you pray,
But let it be fervent and from your heart;
It does not matter what offerings you make to God,
But let them be your best and most worthy.

It does not matter where you live and work,
But be righteous, disciplined and diligent;
It does not matter who your life-partner is,
But love and trust your spouse and be truthful.

It does not matter how high you climb,
But do not risk unduly your life priceless;
It does not matter what feats you accomplish,
But keep your soul pure with all your ability!
It does not matter how long you live,
But live only as per God's will!

God Says …

God Says …
I am your Maker;
I am your Taker;
I am your Judge;
I bear no grudge!

I am your Potter;
I am your Water;
I am your Way;
Do as I say!

I am your Carer;
I am your Bearer;
I am your Guide;
In Me, abide!

I am your Master;
I am your Teacher;
I am your Friend;
Your life, amend.

I am your future;
I am your Watcher;
I want My love back,
Without a slack!

I give you wisdom;
I grant you stardom;
I gave you freedom,
To reach my Kingdom!

I want your soul pure;
Your cross, you endure;
Keep my tenets, code;
Enter My Abode!

Parable of the Sower and the Seed (Matthew 13:1-23)

The Kingdom of Heaven’s like:

Man’s soul’s like field of soil;
The Word of God’s, good seed;
Make up your heart and mind
To accept the Word of God.

Prepare the soil aright:
Till it and turn it well;
Remove weeds and brambles;
Sow good seed in the soil.

Accept the Word of God;
Let them fall on good soil
And not by the wayside;
Scare away birds (devils)
Those try to steal the seeds(Word).

Avoid the stony land
Without enough of soil;
Avoid the brambly bush
That disallows the sprout.

Open your heart and mind
To see and hear the Word;
The wayside seeds are souls
Those see and hear the Word,
But don’t attempt to understand.

The stony earth hasn’t enough soil
To sprout and root and grow,
But get scorched by the sun
To wither and to die!

Only those sown upon good soil
Yield a bountiful crop,
Many fold depending on one’s toil.

Ash Wednesday – Beginning of Lent

Let Lenten journey start with fast;
Let ashen crosses mark foreheads;
Let prayers fill our hearts and minds;
Let repentance, alms-giving drive!

Lord Jesus invites every soul
And heart and mind to change for good;
Reconcile with the Lord therefore;
Prepare your soul for His banquet!

Cleanse your soul from every sin;
By abstinence, add self-restraint;
Avoid all sins all through this lent;
Rend your heart, seeking God’s mercy!

Resist temptations, devils bring;
Renew your spirit in Jesus;
Abstain from worldly needs of flesh;
Control desires for Christ’s sake!

Let light of Christ remove darkness;
Do sacrifices as penance;
Let love of Christ strengthen our will;
Let grace of God afill each soul!

Let every wound of heart, mind, soul,
Be healed during this Lenten time;
Let’s make this Lent with new vigour,
And make soul fit for God’s Kingdom!

May God Give Us Another Glorious Pope!

From just a little boat that Jesus used,
With twelve disciples over watery miles,
Two millennia ago, the Church has grown
Into a mighty ship – Christianity,
That sails in deeper seas at stormy times,
With passengers myriad and crew boldly
Maintaining yet always stability!

The captain feels his frame has become frail
To guide the vessel on perilous seas;
His condescension is humility,
With some doubt on his own ability,
Decision with responsibility,
He’s offering to quit the ministry,
Of Saint Peter with nobility,
To instill it with more vitality!

Such decisions a Pope may rarely take!
The Bark of Peter, stronger it could make!
The world’s amidst lesser tranquility;
He bids adieu due to senility,
With conscience and sensibility;
Pray for a pope with more ability!

The ministry has tougher years ahead;
Quakes under seas and tsunamis too strike;
Icebergs are breaking off from polar caps,
Winds are fiercer and pirates throng the seas;
The captain must be versatile and brave;
The Holy Spirit is his heart’s compass;
The Holy Mother promises safety;
And Jesus walks upon the seas ghostly!

As times are worse and tending to be worst,
The world increasingly appears accursed;
Nevertheless truth will triumph through Christ;
His resurrection will be always praised;
The blood of martyrs will not go awaste;
The souls of ‘sheep and shepherds’ must be chaste;
When Christ on cross had bitter gall to taste,
Let’s walk to Calvary without much haste!

A newer pope will certainly assume
His role and normalcy will then resume;
There is no need at all to fret or fume;
Heavenly grace will problems all consume.
But we must pray with mind and heart and soul;
The newer pope must fit his divine role;
Peter’s successor must achieve his goal;
May sinful mountains turn into a mole!

Lenten Reflections II

Renew your faith in Jesus Christ;
With child-like hearts, let’s once more start;
Let prayers be fervent, steadfast;
Let sacrifices free minds, hearts!

Let fasting make us more alert;
Let humility be the base;
Let selfishness turn selfless love;
Let’s resurrect like how Christ did!

Let lent rejuvenate spirits;
Let us be holy like the Lord;
Let lent be lent to make souls pure;
Let hearts afill with god’s wisdom.

Open our eyes and ears, O Lord!
Let’s see and hear all that’s divine;
Trim our branches to flower and fruit;
Make us instruments of your peace.

Help me to learn and know your ways;
Draw my heart closer to thyself;
Instill your love into my heart;
Let my soul yearn to be thine part!

Lent is Meant for Change of Heart

Change your heart for lent is time God-lent!
Change your attitude in life on earth;
Change your temperament with neighbors all;
Change your mind and soul with heaven’s help!

Lent is meant to make your heart contrite;
Lent must reconcile you to the lord;
Lent must take off dents on human pot;
Lent is Spring for soul, Autumn for sin!

Forty days can turn you to new leaf;
Have an encounter with living Christ;
Offer life to Jesus Lord and King;
Ask His forgiveness for all your sins!

Praise the Lord Almighty for His love;
Thank the Omnipotent God by heart;
Sing and pray aloud to reach heavens;
Gain His favor for eternity!

A Lost Sheep?

One sheep had left the flock some years ago!
The shepherd did allow this one to go;
It strayed to not a far away meadow;
Nevertheless, it was a blunder, oh!

What made this sheep to do this thing – none know;
Was it a decision in haste or more?
The shepherd knows the problem to the core;
But why did he permit it through the door?

Sometimes, some sheep get fed up with the grass;
Perhaps, meadows nigh seem greener, alas!
Some stray away for some kind of time-pass!
What senses tell us at times could be false!

Why did the shepherd not go after it?
All shepherds love their sheep alike in flock;
By succulence of grass, the sheep was hit;
Why did the heart of sheep become like rock?

The sheep didn’t care to lose its master’s fold;
By disobedience, it had turned quite bold;
Perhaps, it did not like what it was told;
May be, it wished to act as if quite old!

The sheep didn’t know the dangers of the world;
It quite forgot the shepherd’s heart of gold;
The taste of ‘better’ grass had changed its hold;
It thought it came from superior, a mould!

Some day, it will regret its great mistake;
The grass it eats now could become soon fake;
Its dreamy world could lose its sheen and make;
Let’s hope it gets some wisdom for God’s sake!

God gives much freedom to His creatures all;
By leading righteous life, we must depart;
Most sheep listen and heed to shepherd’s call;
All heinous sins arise from human heart!

The Maker loves all creatures equally;
All souls are of same make and quality;
Neglecting God is each one’s grave folly!
Man’s sinfulness is boundless, what a pity!

The Almighty knows how to save all souls!
He gives a time enough and long to change;
He grants some persons newer better roles;
His saving grace has many forms and range!

Yet, man must never give up heaven’s gaze;
Our earthly life is like a cage and maze;
Should we abandon God’s meadow and graze?
A fool forsakes a shepherd’s care and face!

'The Good Shepherd will retrieve his lost one sheep!'

Sonnet: The Reality Called Man!

A speck of dust exalted by God’s hands
To human form with soul unlike others –
In tribulations of all kinds, man, lands;
His sinfulness, heart, mind, body bothers!

By straying from the flock, each human sheep,
Estranged from shepherd’s care and tender love,
In alien soil and meadows must then weep,
For he is not with God who is above!

And yet, the Maker loves to set man right,
By every means in His own time and ways;
Misunderstanding God, man shuns the light,
Soul-saving, heavenly in earthly days!

Man’s weaknesses cannot fetch him reward!
God is with man but is he with his God?

Most lovingly dedicated to my spiritual mentor
Reverend Fr. Antony Lawrence, D.D., Thindal,
Ex-Vicar General, Coimbatore RC Diocese

Sonnet: I Love My Foes

I love my foes for what they’ve been and are!
They helped me keep my principles on earth;
They made me braver, turn into a star,
And realize the purpose of my birth!

My life was made quite challenging indeed;
I kept off vices, nurtured my virtues;
They made the grass in me, a robust reed!
I learnt to keep wary through their dear cues.

Without my foes, my feats couldn’t have been great;
They goaded me to tread my lanes in life;
They helped me choose the heaven’s narrow gate!
My trust in God grew more because of strife!

The foes I know are not the only lot!
The more success I get, the more they plot!

The Pope Has Resigned!

A shepherd feels unwell and rests ahead
Of being called for rest eternally!
His decision is wise and not misled;
His illness is to blame for this solely!

The world’s embroiled in problems big, galore;
A few resigned in this great legacy;
To life of prayer longs the pope’s heart’s core;
He wants a healthier man in papacy!

As cardinal, he’d served for many years!
As pope, he took on relativism;
His mind is clear and has no other fears!
His life in Christ was strong since Baptism.

The modern world needs strong a pope anew;
Spiritual wars unfinished still remain;
The earth looks sinful, hazy in God’s view;
The grace of heaven must come down as rain!

A soldier left the field to follow Christ;
The German Benedikt is eighty-five!
As theologian, cardinal and priest,
For more than sixty years, he was shepherd.

He played a signal role on papal stage,
He now resigned due to ill-health and age!
For years, he stole the limelight as seer, sage;
He leaves the stage with many wars to wage!

His papacy was good until last day;
For pope to have a healthy life, let’s pray;
While there was sun, he had made enough hay,
With life of humility, come what may!
HE LEAVES BEHIND A PIOUS, GLORIOUS PAST!

Most lovingly dedicated to
His Holiness, Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI
Long live Papacy!

Happy Smile Day, 2013

Start your day by smiling please!
Work your way with smiles along;
Share your wisdom smilingly;
Face your challenges with smiles!

Show a face afilled with smiles;
Glance a look with broad a smile;
Dance with face that pours out smiles;
Walk in life with smiles on face!

Talk with neighbors smiles amidst;
Throw a smile and not a frown;
Smile all life in joys and woes;
Victories smile all through your life!

Smile man, smile for ’tis easy!
Smile and spread the cheer around;
Smile awhile in life always;
Smiling eases stress of life!

The Sacrament of Confession (Reconciliation)

Christ paid the price of mankind's sins
By suffering and his death on cross;
‘Repent and enter heaven, all,
If you can have a contrite heart.'

Lord Christ sits in the confessional,
With heart of love for penitents;
No heinous crime or gravest sin's
Beyond God's forgiving power!

However long, you sinned since birth;
However much grievous your sins;
Whatever be your sinful load,
Christ can redeem your soul again!

Lent is the time to make amends;
Lent is the time to feel remorse;
Lent is the time to spell out sins,
And gain forgiveness, grace of God.

Oh, what a splendid Sacrament!
Oh, what a glorious time, God gives!
Oh, what a golden chance for souls
To reconcile with Almighty!

No man is perfect in God's eyes;
All are sinners until we grave;
Christ - Lamb of God takes away sins,
If you ask Him for forgiveness.

Confession is best solution
For sins of past and present, done;
Feel sorry from your heart in truth;
Reconcile with the mighty Lord!

God knows our iniquities all;
To forgive sins is in His plan
Of redeeming the world through Christ -
His only begotten Son, Lord!

For prodigal sons, Father yearns
With arms outstretched and heart of love,
To welcome them back to His fold,
And never more to lose his sheep!

Oh, what a loving God we have!
The God of love made us with love;
The Shepherd seeks his sheep, lambs lost,
And celebrates when they are found!

Go tell your sins of past to priest
And get his absolution fast;
Devils await to ambush souls
Like thieves that come to steal at night!

Confession removes every sin
And trace of every crime and hurt;
If you recount them to the Lord
With truly repentant, a heart!

Jesus annuls the rod for sins;
And grace of God comes down like rain,
To fill your soul and make it pure,
Preparing way for Heav'n again!

So, hurry and confess your sins;
Make haste and beg pardon from God;
Go talk to God and walk nearer,
For God's with us, are we with God?

‘Wish you a most wonderful Lent,2013! '

International Women’s Day, 2013

‘Being alone was not good for Adam!’
So, God made Eve as his companion.
And Eve became the mother of humans;
Through labour pains, she brought forth her children!

His female partner was his better half;
Her weaker frame made her the weaker sex;
Eve procreated human race so well;
Yet, are women denied their place that’s due!

’Tis sad to see women, the way they are!
They vie with men in every field and sphere;
At times, they are better than men perhaps;
But men are men and women are women!

God made each one so uniquely on earth;
Each one had gifts to suit their wants and needs;
But Eve is yet to get her rights complete;
Society won’t give her security!

The glory of woman remains untold;
Her love and care of children is so great;
Her sacrifice for family’s sake is much;
As wife and mother, she’s incomparable!

Will not the world realize this strong truth?
Respect women for doing their duty;
Allow the female child to be born safe;
The world cannot progress with women harmed.

Let society then change its attitude;
The girl-child’s boon, not bane to human race;
Protect women and let them live in peace;
Wipe out the heinous crimes against women.

The womb cannot be tomb for those unborn!
Women should not kill babies as they wish;
Preserve the sanctity of human life;
Can you think of a world without women?

‘Happy International Women’s Day, 2013!

Sonnet: A Ship Upon Deep Seas!

A ship that made its way onto deep seas
In glory, stays afloat but rudderless!
It faces frequent storms, fierce winds that cease,
And has less fuel, water and food less.

The fewer crew are working for more time;
None know if it can reach the land safely;
The old vessel can withstand any clime;
Is it a tryst then of destiny?

All calls for help have landed on deaf ears;
No radar picked her up upon its screen;
The darkness of the clouds sends shivers, fears;
The forlorn ship’s on sea with silver sheen!

Yet, can the captain make it to safety?
Despite all odds, God cares for this beauty!

The Making of a New Pope

All Cardinals in Conclave pray
The Holy Spirit guides all day
To voice of God, they will all heed;
A miracle, ’Twill be indeed!

Sistine’s chimney will spew smoke white!
’Twill be a grand and joyful sight;
As Holy Father’s chosen new,
St.Peter’s square with joy will fill.

The best among the Shepherds rest;
The one victorious in the test;
He’ll be the Chief Shepherd henceforth;
To Catholics, he’ll give great mirth.

A lot of work, he’s got to do;
The present world in chaos lies;
There’s a spiritual, mundane divide;
Problems galore, the Church does face.

A wise and divine man will come
To Peter’s chair and be welcome;
The conclave will find out that man
In secrecy, in short a span.

The Holy See will see new Pope;
With modern problems, he will cope;
He’ll lead flock to pastures God-made,
And feed the lambs as Jesus bade!

Long Live the New Pope Francis I

The world has got a newer Pope –
The source of Roman Catholic hope;
With church problems, he soon will cope;
In darkness, we need never grope!

He took the name of Francis I;
He has a lot of work half-done;
The Argentine had fame, name shun;
Humility will be his gun!

He’ll be a boon to poor brethren;
The Jesuit can make earth, heaven;
Abortionists can’t have safe haven;
With crucial harms, he’ll break even!

May God bless Pope Francis amply;
May he function quite capably;
May papacy run happily;
May he become a vale lilly!

Song: Little Poverello, May You Bless the New Pope Francis!

Little Poverello, may you show the new Pope Francis,
How to live as you did, and to love and serve God too,
You gave up your riches and wore only rags as dresses,
Help humble Pope Francis, help him serve the Lord like you.

’Midst scorching sun or pouring rain, you lived for just God’s sake,
You begged for alms to build the Church and kept for Christ, awake!.

Tell him how to be poor and to help the poorer brethren;
Through poverty alone, one can go near God and heav’n;
World lies in much chaos, people want true joy in great sins;
If men follow Jesus, with no cross, it makes no sense!

’Midst scorching sun or pouring rain, you lived for just God’s sake,
You begged for alms to build the Church and kept for Christ, awake!

Bless the new Pope Francis, may the Church progress under him;
Give him much more wisdom, lead the flock to rock like you;
May he solve all problems, which the Church is facing today;
May the blood of Jesus, wash away all sins of men!

’Midst scorching sun or pouring rain, you lived for just God’s sake,
You begged for alms to build the Church and kept for Christ, awake!

Dedicated to the new Pope Francis (Mario Bergoglio)

Veronica’s Gesture of Kindness
Out from the crowd,
One woman dashed,
Forgetting fear,
With sorrowing heart.
With veil in hand,
She wiped Christ’s face,
bruised and bleeding,
bathed in blood-sweat!

Her gesture gained
Christ’s face imprint
Upon her veil
As her reward.
A Testimony
That stood for years,
As Turin’s shroud
That spoke aloud,

A brave-heart’s will
And love for Christ;
A small gesture
That Jesus loved
A little act
Of kindness made
Exemplary
Turned for all time!

How many would
Gain the courage
To dare to help
One, desolate?
Though many got
Healed, and received
Christ’s miracles,
Just one woman

Came daringly,
To show her love
For Jesus Christ,
The Son of God,
Who took the cross
For mankind’s sins,
And suffered, died
To save sinners!

Good Friday

The Son of God, a man, Jesus is dead!
Until the last, he was misunderstood;
Despite his sufferings, he kept his head;
His lifeless body hangs on cross’ wood!

He came to earth as per His Father’s bid;
A holy life, well-Scriptured, he had lived;
On earth, so many miracles, he did;
He forgave sinners and devils, he rid!

He showed mankind the greatness of God’s love;
He spent a sinless life white as a dove;
He spoke to His Father in heaven above;
The temple has been destroyed by men now!

He stood steadfast despite his many odds;
Apart from him, there were no other gods;
The world reproached him and he shunned awards;
To pure of heart, he waits to give rewards!

He braved the hilly way to Calvary bare-feet;
He bore the cross of mankind’s sinful heat;
He suffered ignominy, none dare meet;
He’ll come again to sieve the chaff from wheat!

His Father’s will, he obeyed till the last;
His name and glory are not things of past;
Of ship of Christianity, he was mast;
His win o’er death made all devils aghast!

The sun turned dark and did not give out light;
The angry earth shook as if with all might;
The blood of Christ had soaked the earth on site;
The place of skull looked dim though day, like night!

His body in a tomb for three days lay;
He’ll come again alive upon third day;
His divinity then will have its say;
He is true man and God, truth, life and way!

Today, the hearts of Christians appear sad;
The modern world in heinous sin looks bad;
Devils are rampant, making men more mad;
Jesus will resurrect to make us glad!

Happy Easter to All

He who had come down from heaven to earth,
He who was Lord but became man by birth,
He who triumphed over satan and death,
Has risen to life to give the world, mirth!

He who suffered for mankind’s sins on cross,
He who washed apostles’ feet, although boss,
He who performed miracles without pause,
Is back to life; He is the Lord because!

The Lamb of God took on the sins of world;
The Son of God was crowned with thorns and hurled;
His battered body bled and lay so cold;
But for his Father’s sake, he was brave, bold!

The love of God for man was truly shown;
Jesus Christ was his only son and own;
To redeem sinners, on earth, he was born;
He’ll come again with glory, one fine morn!

Light has prevailed over darkness forev’r;
The gates of hell had failed to lock this soul;
All repentant sinners can gain heaven;
The blood of Christ was ransom paid for all!

We thank you God for resurrecting Christ;
We Christians vow to be his soldiers first;
He is the water for our divine thirst;
With Christ, we’ll brave life’s storms however worst!
“Happy Easter to all!”

Medicine In Poetry: The Adept Human Brain

God gave all creatures matching brain,
To control movements and be sane;
From misdemeanor, to refrain,
And use it rightly, not in vain!

Housed in a rugged vault called skull,
Brain stays afloat on waters full;
Well-sealed away from human thieves,
The mind cannot be read with ease!

God put both white and grey matter,
And insulated well latter;
Connected neurons by axon,
To aid messages to go on!

Billions of cells has human brain
– The centre for memory and pain;
At times, its functions wax and wane,
And man can sometimes turn insane!

Transmission is by chemicals,
That set forth electric impulse;
And take commands up/down the lane:
With ‘off’ and ‘on’, functions the brain!

The neurons don’t regenerate;
On target cells, they terminate;
With age, most brains degenerate:
‘Seat of wisdom’, in Vertebrate!

The brain has halves called Hemispheres;
Where mind is lodged, emotions, fears,
Cognition, collation, seizures:
Controlling sight, hearing and tears!

In most, the ‘Speech-centre’s’ on left;
That for art, music placed on right;
Cerebella balance each side,
And lesions make gait rather wide!

Some groups of cells called nuclei,
Control reflexes, muscles, eye;
The brain is swathed in triple veil,
And flushed with blood rich, not to fail!

The mirrors of mind – retinae,
Speak of the brain’s state and its lay;
Gyri, sulci cover surface,
And make a person, king of race!

With stopped heart, lungs, a man is dead,
And functionless brain within head;
With gone reflexes, pupils wide
– Man is pronounced to have just died!

The brain-dead man, his organs gives,
And through others, for years, he lives;
Man tries his best to transplant brain;
God thwarts his moves and ’tis in vain!
Just fraction of man’s brain functions!
What marvels lie at their junctions!

Lament of Unborn in the Womb!

I am a person healthy and wholesome;
God forms me in my mother’s womb with love;
He breathes life, calling me by my sweet name;
Life’s Author wants me born into His world.

He makes me from just little sex cells two
– One from each parent, fusing them to grow
In pre-destined ways as per Natural laws,
Withstanding challenges of environs!

The womb is my God-given sacred home:
Rent-free, shock-free, safe, tranquil with free food;
I sleep and grow each moment in its lake;
God shapes my bones and flesh and organs fine!

Alas! When I think things were right on course,
My pro-creators do a murder foul,
And turn my home to tomb of agony,
Destroying me by harms of every kind!

I can’t imagine mom doing this sin;
I cannot picture dad abetting crime;
I fail to understand a world so bad:
Mankind annihilating own species?

My pleas to God to save me go in vain;
Devils have won a transient war for now;
My parents sin in mortal way this time;
What punishment of God awaits them both!

God hears my lamentations as life ebbs:
His wrath is great but patience lingers still;
His aggrieved heart is filled by sorrow much;
His angels take my soul to His presence!

Why does Eve kill her living toy God gives?
Why Adam too joins her thus in this sin?
Why does the world deny the unborn rights?
Why have more human beings turned ruthless?

Hast not the Lord bade, ‘Thou shalt never kill?’
Yet, man heeds not but takes away more lives
–An act of sin that God’s heart can wrath fill;
His forgiveness and grace, thus man deprives!

I’m back with God to get His justice apt;
’Tis sad to see men worse than beasts behave!
The world I lost is not my final stay;
The rod of God is hell for killers all!

When past women bore dozen children, why
In modern age, they cannot bear a few?
When many couples childless stay on earth,
Why can’t all unborn find adopting hearts?

The Maker knows the ills of modern man;
So permits things against His Natural laws!
God has solutions for problems that vex;
His wisdom’s far better than any man’s!

Sonnet: Genes Matter But…

No longer secret's the genome of man!
The gene make-up of all beasts will be known;
Man's actions and misdeeds, alter none can,
Except man himself, using his mind own.

How can the new knowledge of genes prevent
the growing crimes against men in this world?
For his grave sins unless man can repent,
He will suffer in hell or when he's old.

The society's problems, man must resolve,
Thro' self-control and love of his neighbour;
By brotherhood of nations, man can solve,
Most of the problems and make earth better.

Knowing one's genes is not the solution;
Know thine own mind by self-realization.
