On BBC I found
Quote:
Microsoft warning over browser security flaw
Microsoft has issued a "critical" warning over a newly-discovered flaw in Windows.

In a security advisory, the company warned of a loophole that could be used by malicious hackers to steal private information or hijack computers.

The bug potentially affects every user of the Internet Explorer web browser - around 900 million people worldwide....

Go to Microsoft releases Security Advisory 2501696 for details and for Fix-It

While I seldom use Internet Explorer I installed the fix. Otherwise this will be the one day I forget and use it for something.

Microsoft usually issues security notifications on the second Tuesday of the month. For them to issue this warning outside of that cycle means they think it's serious enough to warrant attention. Note this is a workaround, not a patch.

We can expect that a patch fixing the issue will be forthcoming this or next month.
