Very funny....and so, so true. It's even worse when there is going to be more than an eighth of an inch of rain. All hell breaks loose.

Val,

Well, 50º Farenheit is getting a little cool.

As for rain, this chart makes LA look as though it's in permanent drought.

Wow, really brings it home. I guess that is why we're hysterical when it does rain and there are a million car accidents the first couple of rainy days.

Rainfall in the basin has little effect on Los Angeles. We are dependent on the snow pack on the mountains for most of our water.

Joe,

That occurred to me while I was in the shower as something to mention on the thread. It matters what's in the Sierra Nevada's and not LA or Southern California as a whole though for fire season purposes, it can be good to have more rain depending upon which time of year it is or, it merely provides for more bush growth for the following fire season.

I suppose it depends upon what you're accustomed to, James.

Right now, 50ºƒ sounds pretty balmy to me …

Our normal mid-January high is 38ºƒ and our normal low is 19ºƒ. Around here, any day the temperature reaches 50º before March is a day with an above-average high.

I note the jealousy that we know where to drive.

The temperatures soared up into the mid 40s (F) here today ... which meant that, as would be expected with such a heat wave, there were people walking around in shorts. ] + [

By an odd coincidence that matter came up on QI last night (a repeat). (I believe QI isn't allowed to be shown in the US.) A teasing remark is made about driving on the right-hand side of the road and the American comedian Rich Hall responds.... Well see for yourself (it's at 17:05)

I didn't even know who the American comedian was...I'm so out of pop culture these days. Engaging show, forgot how funny Fry is.
