Heck, one lame excuse is as good as any other.

A teenage P-plater from New South Wales has been caught driving at 177-kilometres-an-hour on a highway in Victoria, telling police his car was about to run out of petrol.
Victorian police say they pulled the teenager over last night while he was driving on the Hume Highway near Bradford, north of Melbourne.
Police say the P-plater was clocked at 177 kilometres-an-hour, which is 67-kilometres-an-hour over the posted speed limit.
Police say he told them he was speeding because his car was running out of petrol.
That this is posted today is an interesting coincidence. With all the distraction recently with my wife being hospitalized, I did something I rarely do. I let my fuel drop dangerously low. I noticed while on the interstate heading for the medical center that the fuel gauge was nearing the 'empty' mark.
While I am aware that driving faster causes a reduction in the mpg fuel usage, I had to consciously forced myself to maintain my speed rather than hurry to the nearest service station!
