Poster Couple for Gay Marriage Calls It Quits

Normally, I'm never happy when a marriage splits up, but...this wasn't a marriage.

Quote:
Tyler said her marital problems were no different than if the two parties had been a man and woman. Gays and lesbians shouldn't be held to a different standard when granted the same civil rights as everyone else, she said.

Well, their "marital" problems were different from the start, namely, that they didn't have the assistance of grace. Nor could their "marriage" even be termed "good and natural."

I'm waiting for the studies showing these unions split at a higher rate than marriages do, and at an earlier time. It is simply intuitive that this would be the case, even though marriage itself is under great stress.

I saw that on MSNBC last week and was struck by a line where one of the ladies said something about marriage isn't supposed to be forever if the people changed, and I realized that this re-definition we've been fighting against has already happened.

I think I've mentioned that someone on Facebook said, "If I can't get married, then you can't get divorced," and my internal response was , "well, duh." But the rest of the world doesn't see it the way Catholics do, obviously.
