All of the sub-forums that the membership have posting privileges in should now allow editing. If I have missed any please let me know.

Hm. Seems like a good experiment, Bob.

Thank you for giving it a shot.

Jeff,

I'd like to keep it this way. We have lot's of good people here, the trolls from days gone by are long gone, I do not anticipate any problems.

I should also point out that we were able to do this now because the software timer is now working, one of the many fixed recently incorporated.

This is great! Even though I preview before I post sometimes I will see a spelling mistake or word ommission after I post and then it's too late to correct it. So I appreciate this feature!

Thank you, thank you. No matter how much preview I do, too often I find I still drop a word or make some other mistake I can see only after the post is sumitted!

I THINK you cannot edit a post in a thread started by a moderator. Is this by design, Bob?

Jeff,

There are some places that you do not have permissions to edit, The staff sections which you cannot access anyway, and all the libraries, the forum rules. Aside from that you should have the ability to edit.

As far as started by a staff member I have no idea, perhaps an announcement or sticky no. I'll play with it and see if I can figure it out.

Jeff,

It appears that you can edit a post in a normal thread started by a staff member, but cannot edit a post in a thread that is marked higher then a normal post, this must be by design, but when I have some time I'll look into it further

Bob,

Serious question.

Immediately after posting here:
viewtopic.php?f=217&t=57451

I was unable to edit my post. I realized I should change "confession" to "sacrament of penance".

I don't see an elevation or it being in an unusually defined forum. Any idea why that might be?

I'm just curious. It's not a priority.

I'm posting just so you know, (not that it's mandatory) but it looks like I can't edit my posts in this forum. viewtopic.php?f=105&t=42539&p=750127#p750127

This is working out well for me. I get in too much of a rush sometimes and hit the submit button before checking my mistakes.

I have not figured out how to edit my post within five minutes after it was posted. Can someone explain to me how to do that?

Button shows up in the bottom right, right next to "Quote", on your own posts.

If you act quick, you can test the one you just posted! :)

Thank you. You and anyone else who finds it helpful is welcome to use it.

Luigi Daniele wrote:

It's quite simple.

Take a screenshot of your window. Use Alt-PrintScreen on your keyboard.
Open Microsoft Paint (Start Run Accessories).
Paste the screenshot in (Ctrl-V or just go to the Edit menu, then paste)
Select the oval/circle tool. Select red color. Lay it over the button. Ctrl-Z to undo if you get it wrong.
Select the line tool. Draw a line to the oval. Draw another line next to it at a 45 degree angle. Draw another line on the other side at a 45 degree angle.
Save it.
Upload to photobucket or your own web site.

Then link to it.

I've been doing this a long time. Maybe simple things come easy.

The only time I ever saw an edit button in the lower right hand part of my post has been my above message in this thread. It did not appear in any of my recent posts including today's posting in Speculation/Junk Science topic: Global Warming.

Bob,

Just to let you know....

In the Speculation/Junk Science forum there isn't an 'edit post' button.

Bob,
Twice since this new editing has been available I have wanted to completely delete posts which, after two minutes, I realized were inappropriate. In the Introductions and in the Prayer Requests. Was it because editing is not allowed in these forums or because deleting an entire post is not allowed? (I have managed to successfully edit a post; it was probably in Chew and Chat.)

But what you CAN probably do is to delete all the former text and replace it with something else - like

"Never mind." or "Deleted."
or something equally silly.

Frankly, I've seen you several times - Grace - apologize for posts that I've really gotten a lot out of. SO QUIT IT!!! ;)

Thank you.

There have been several times on these forums when I have posted and only realized afterward that I forgot a word or two or stated something awkwardly.

I appreciate it.

EDIT: Just tested it...nice.

Hopefully the edit function will be used more wisely and change it from junk to something worthwhile. I do understand your point though. I know I have used this function already, and whether wisely or not would be for the reader to discern.

I thought earlier this function was removed, but it appears that it is not available in all areas.

I double-posted and tried to delete one, but the computer kept telling me to edit my second post, since it "contains too few characters."
