Here is a perk for members of the Forum.

I was at St. Peter's Basilica after Mass had been celebrated. St. Leo the Great has his tomb in the basilica. There was a solemn procession to his tomb.

Here is the altar. Depicted is the famous moment when, alone, convinces Attila the Hun with his hordes not to invade Italy.

The altar with priests and canons.

Here is the opening in the altar where you can see the saints tomb. Note the fine work in gold.

I ask you all to pray to Leo for the Church. And also add a prayer for a Leo whom I know in need of prayers.

Fr. Z

Thank you Fr. Z for posting these pictures. It will be years before I can travel to Rome. I very much appreciate your efforts.

Prayers to St. Leo and for Leo going up.

Dean

The original post was 8 years ago, the pics are probably history.

:hold: Why should you feel stupid? I knew it was an old thread, but it's a STICKY! The pictures should be there, and I was wondering if it was just me-- or if it was everybody, if the moderators could revive the pictures somehow. It was just Leo the Great's feast day and I was searching around the forum to see what there was about him.

In fact the entire domain they were hosted on, newforum.catholic.org, does not appear to be valid.

That is probably also true.
